Top Ten Tuesday #1: Top Ten Best/Worst Series Enders

Hi! This is my first Top Ten Tuesday post. The bookish meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Today's question is my top ten best/worst series enders.

Best 5:

1. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

It's as beautiful as it is heartbreaking. I'm still hurting over what is inevitable and the new happiness that Tessa gains. There are no words to explain how much I love the ending of The Infernal Devices.

2. Boundless by Cynthia Hand

Another one of those endings that have you grinning broadly for at least an hour after reading the ending. And it wraps up perfectly.

3. Light by Michael Grant
A very impressive ending. Stunning, dynamic and very brutal. The perfect ending for a series as crazy and terrifying as Gone series.

4. Requiem by Lauren Oliver

Unlike many readers out there, I actually like the ending. It leaves space for imagination of the world after the success of the resistance. (Spoiler!) I mean, you can't just have Lena diving for one of the two guys at the end of the book (or diving for both). It will be unfair to both Alex and Julian (End of spoiler)

5. The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa

Okay I must say this is an ending of HEA and I'm familiar with HEA endings. I'd say the plot itself is better than the ending, but the ending fits because Ash and Meghan are just too adorable to not to be together :)

***

Worst 5 Endings:

1. Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Sorry, the ending is just way too predictable. I mean, BEAUTIFUL REDEMPTION? You are practically saying Ethan and Lena are having a HEA together and... to be honest, I'm not a shipper of Ethan and Lena.

2. Everlasting by Alyson Noel

Okay seriously this is one of the most disappointing endings ever. What the heck is going on in this novel? Honestly, I have no idea.

3. Destined by Aprilynne Pike

Nope, I just can't. (Confession: I actually like David more than Tamani. And not only the fact that Laurel is rooting for Tamani annoys the hell out of me, I think the ending is just so typical)

4. Ceaseless by Abbi Glines

Look, I actually like this book. But for some reason the ending just doesn't do it for me.

5. Rapture by Lauren Kate

All I can say is the ending is not what I imagine and I'm quite pissed off by the ending.

Which series has the best or the worst ending in your opinion? Sound off in the comments!

Beautiful Redemption: Review

The last review of the books released on October 23, 2012. This time features Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

Summary:

Is death the end . . . or only the beginning?

Ethan Wate always dreamed of leaving the stifling Southern town of Gatlin.

But he never dreamt that finding love with Lena Duchannes would drive him away. Lena is a Caster girl whose supernatural powers unveiled a secretive and cursed side of Gatlin, so powerful it forced him to make a terrible sacrifice.

Now Ethan must find a way to return to Lena - and Gatlin - as she vows to do whatever it takes to get him back. Even if it means trusting old enemies or risking their loved ones' lives.

Can Ethan and Lena rewrite their fate and their spellbinding love story in this stunning finale to the Beautiful Creatures series?

***

Well, it's... more peaceful than I thought it would be. I guess there is a good side and a bad side. The bad side is that it is not as interesting as I thought it was. I kind of want some more battle. Especially 1) Battle between Lena (and her friends) and Abraham, 2) Battle between Ethan and Angelus and 3) Battle between Ethan Lawson Wate ande Ethan Carter Wate. Don't get me wrong guys, I like the excitement in the battles. But maybe I want more.

The good side about it is that I didn't suffer much heartbreak throughout the book. After Clockwork Prince, I can't stop wondering if I will suffer real bad in the other books. But this one is... "relatively" peaceful. I can think straight in this book, which I can't in Cassie's books.

It's good to read Lena's perspective because it's always Ethan's point of view in the previous three books. Not that a boy's perspective isn't good (in fact it's rare). But reading Lena's PoV is a fresh thing in this series. I guess that is needed in this book because we need to know how Lena get her hands on The Book of Moons.

For moments I wondered that if that Xavier guy's real name is Ethan Carter Wate. He isn't of course. But I can't help but wondering under these... circumstances. 1) He said that Angelus destroy a Light Caster which he loved. Do you remember thatn Genevieve was a Light Caster once? At that time I thought that it might be Angelus who added this page in The Caster Chronicles and destroy both of their lives.  2) He wanted to get his hands on The Book of Moons. This is the book that destroyed Genevieve and Ethan's lives. I guess even the real Ethan Carter Wate would like to stop The Book of Moons from hurting innocent people more. 3) He was trapped in the Far Keep. Both Ethan Carter Wate and Xavier were trapped in the Far Keep (Yeah, the reason is that simple). Even though he wasn't Ethan Carter Wate, I still... kinda like him

Ethan and Lena were together at last. I feel really happy for them. But for once I really wanna know the truth behind the mysteries in the book. First is Ethan Carter Wate's death. Was that not meant to happen? Was Ethan Carter Wate's death just because Angelus added a page in it? I am really interested in this. Was Genevieve not meant to be a Dark Caster? Is there even a truth?

Second is The Book of Stars. The Book of Stars is the Light half of The Book of Moons. And Genevieve had said that The Book of Moons was not meant to be in Mortal world. So how did The Book of Moons get into the Mortal world while The Book of Stars stayed in the Otherworld? Where did the two books come from? What's The Book of Stars about? And how did it end up in Xavier's hands? Another thing that interests me.

I don't know why I don't talk about Ethan and Lena's relationship much. Maybe because somehow I always know they will reunite just from the name of this book. Maybe because of the summary. I don't know. But the story ends. And I will... well, not quite miss is VERY MUCH. But still, miss it. I look forward to the movie. Hope that they will display the story well enough. I don't want it screwed up even though this is not my favorite series.

Rating: 7.5/10

The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

Summary:

“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before.

Beautiful Redemption: Theories

It's still over 2 months away from Beautiful Redemption's release date. It's the forth and the final book of the Caster Chronicles series. Check out the summary below:

Is death the end . . . or only the beginning?

Ooh, I'm so excited! Since that I have to buy the UK version of Beautiful Redemption, I can get it in September rather than October! I feel that I am really lucky suddenly. So here's my theories:

For Ethan:

1. He will stay dead, but he can find a way to be with Lena in some sort of... form and battle some evil guy

2. He will be human again, either reincarnate or some sort of magic that can make him live again... in whole

3. He can never find a way to get back to Lena's side. So it's up to Lena who find a way to reach him (which is kinda sad)

For Lena:

1. She can reach Ethan again, but not in his human form.

2. The best one for me: Ethan will be back to her in human form (it had better be Ethan's soul and his face, but reincarnation is okay to me)

3. She cannot reach Ethan, and it's up to Ethan who find a way to be with her (This is sad)

For Abraham:

1. He should be dead. He has to be DEAD.

For Ridley:

1. Her powers of Siren will be ripped out again for some unknown reason

2. She will stay as a Siren

3. She will be Link... for real

4. She can never be with Link (Although I can say she likes/loves him)

For Link:

1. He will die (which is a feeling I can't shove off)

2. He will be with Ridley... for real

3. He will be all human again, not 1/4 Incubus

(Okay this is kinda lame to predict their future, because it's always like die-or-live thing, and it's hard to predict their fate. Harder than predict the destiny of TMI and TID characters. But still I think it's a good thing to live past the empty days before the release date)

Extra: The UK cover of Beautiful Redemption
I must say the US cover is way better (because the whole background color of this one is GREEN! Which is really weird) But still, the staircase is good!

Beautiful Redemption

The final book of Caster Chronicles will be released in October, 2012:

Beautiful Redemption:

I love Beautiful Creatures novels so much and this series is one of my favorite series at all (others are the bestselling Mortal Instruments Series and Infernal Devices series, but let's talk about it later) This is the series like no other among all the bestsellers. The series doesn't base on things that we always see in bestselling series like vampires, fallen angels, immortals. It based on Casters, which makes the series special. Towards the three novels in the series, there are always breath-catching scenes like at the start of Beautiful Chaos, Ethan dreamed about falling from the water tower. Without all the informations that help me to realize what had happened, I just wondered so badly that why Ethan was dreaming something like that. Another scene is also in Beautiful Chaos. The part that Ethan realized that he was The One Who Is Two. And I just thought that if Ethan's dead(or undead?), Lena would go absolute CRAZY. There's another thing. How can the authors continue the series if Ethan sacrificed himself(or dead...)?

The book's gonna be one the most thrilling books in 2012. I can't wait for the novel and I want to ask: Why I have to wait for more than 6 months?
