Revealed: Review

Synopsis:

The spellbinding eleventh and penultimate installment in the #1 New York Times bestselling vampyre series

Drastically altered after her fall at the end of Hidden, Neferet is now more dangerous than ever—and her quest for vengeance will wreak havoc on humans, as well as Zoey and her friends. Chaos is loosed in Tulsa and the House of Night is blamed. Can Zoey stop Neferet in time to keep her anger from escalating to full-on war? Or will someone else have to step in to take the fall?

The House of Night series is an international phenomenon, reaching #1 on U.S., German, and UK bestseller lists, and remaining a fixture on The New York Times Children’s Series bestseller list for nearly 150 weeks and counting. With more than 12 million copies in print, rights sold in thirty–eight countries to date, and relatable, addictive characters, this series is unstoppable. Now, in the eleventh and penultimate installment of the series, the action is more intense and the stakes even higher as Zoey and her friends battle to protect their school and home from devastating evil—all while balancing romances, precarious friendships and the daily drama of the House of Night's halls.

I still have so many problems with this book. Of course I'm not going to talk about all of them because that will be a long list. But this is nicer than I expected. Still don't like it, but at least I don't hate the book in the guts and bored to tears. Finally there's something real going on in this book and not as much shitty drama and frustration and facepalming as Hidden. Maybe being the second last book helps.

Yeah, second last, while this is the 11th book of the series. For the millionth time this series is way too long for its own good. A series is not supposed to be more than 8 books. Hell, and 8-book series will be very long, but 12? Are you testing my patience? I have lost any interest in the teenage drama and just want it to get to the end and see how Tsi Sgili fall. I want to read Redeemed right now, but not because the book is so very good that I can't wait for the final installment. I just want it to end so badly.

The worst part is always the teenage drama throughout the books that frustrates me to no end. Although there isn't as much as in Hidden, which is a relief, there's still a lot. Honestly, I don't need to read those dramas to understand the whole story line because it's just predictable like that. The harsh way to say it is that those dramas are just wasting papers. So please, more real stuff in Redeemed, I beg you. I'm about to lose faith on vampires (except Blood of Eden) and this series certainly don't want to be responsible for that.

There are so many not-so-good stuff that is present but I don't have time to talk about now. What I can only say is: Please, just freaking end it.

Cover Reveal: Revealed by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast

The moment is finally here! Although technically this is not considered as my moment because... I'm getting tired of this series you know.

So here it is. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of HoN, I do like this cover:

See that? Told you will like it! I wonder who that is on the cover? I don't think it's Zoey, though she does look like her...

Flashback Friday: Betrayed by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

Synopsis:

Fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird has managed to settle in at the House of Night.  She's come to terms with the vast powers the vampyre goddess, Nyx, has given her, and is getting a handle on being the new Leader of the Dark Daughters. Best of all, Zoey finally feels like she belongs--like she really fits in. She actually has a boyfriend…or two. Then the unthinkable happens: Human teenagers are being killed, and all the evidence points to the House of Night. While danger stalks the humans from Zoey's old life, she begins to realize that the very powers that make her so unique might also threaten those she loves. Then, when she needs her new friends the most, death strikes the House of Night, and Zoey must find the courage to face a betrayal that could break her heart, her soul, and jeopardize the very fabric of her world.

I thought this book is... not that good, but good enough. Better than Marked, obviously. But you have to bear in mind that this is ONLY the second book I read when I first dwelt on YA novels. I didn't have that much of perspective then. And now I have. So recently I re-read some of the very first YA novels I read. And I came up with... Betrayed.

Okay, the problem is definitely bigger and harder to solve in Betrayed. I mean, in Marked, it's just... school stuff and no more. But this time it involves fledglings' lives. So yeah, I will say the plot is getting better at this point (keyword: at this point). I won't say this is the best plot in the whole world. But again, it's good enough for a second book (considering I didn't even know when the series is gonna end).

Zoey... well, I can't say she grew up a lot in this book, since this is only the second book and there are like, what, 12 books? The plot is very, very long. So I don't really think she actually grew up that much in this book. Yep, her power is appreciative. But then this is not her OWN power. It's the power that the Goddess gave her in Marked. I believe that her own power will earn more respect from me.

The villain starts to rise in this book. Neferet, the High Priestess of the Oklahoma House of Night. That's one of the main reasons why this book is better than the last. Because come on, everyone knows that even a bitchy Aphrodite can't be a VILLAIN. And there's not much mention in Marked that involves the hidden threat. And now, she rises. That's a good thing, at least things will get interesting. Well, that's what I thought when I first read Betrayed.

When I first read Betrayed, I had high hopes on this series because it's very, very different from Twilight (wait, is Twilight a YA novel?). Well, you can see that's not the case anymore. As I've said a thousand times already, the plot is WAY TOO LONG and that kind of ruins the whole story. Glad that the 11th book will come out in October this year. Or I will go crazy. (And the 11th is not even the last book yet. Sigh.)

Name Reveal: House of Night #12 and Legend #3

Woohoo! We have two new names of two new books!

1. The 12th novel of House of Night series by P.C.Cast and Kristin Cast

Yep, the ever infamous 12th and the final novel of HoN. I still have to say it's way too freaking long. But anyway, the book will be called:

Redeemed

Yep, Redeemed. Not some lame-ass name like, what, Finished or Ended or something like that.

Synopsis:

The 12th and final House of Night novel

In her blog, PC announced that there would be twelve books in the House of Night series. The final book will come out in 2014, and will focus on the children's battle with Neferet and the Dark red fledglings. Also she said in her live stream video chat that in the final books an epic battle between Light and Darkness is going to happen. She said that the old magick of the Isle of Skye is going to help Zoey to defeat Neferet once and for all.

Redeemed will be released in 2014.

2. The third novel of Legend trilogy by Marie Lu

I'm planning to read Legend, and I believe it's gonna be awesome! So here's the piece of news: The name of the third book of the trilogy!

Champion

Cool name, even though I haven't even read the first book yet. Maybe I will love it more after I read Legend and Prodigy.

Champion will be released in 2014.

Flashback Friday: Marked by P. C.Cast and Kristin Cast

Another Flashback Friday again!

This time is Marked, the first book of the New York Times bestselling House of Night series.

Summary:

The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed.  In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire -- that is, if she makes it through the Change.  Not all of those who are chosen do.  It's tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling.  She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.  But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers.  When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

This won't be long because I can hardly remember what's in it.

There's a whole lot of reason why I choose Marked as today's featurette.  This book means a lot to me. Not just because it's good. But also because this is the very first YA book I read, and it marks the start of my YA fascination. Of course, looking back, this is definitely not my favorite book. Not anymore. But still it holds a very important value in my heart.

This is the start of House of Night series, and you know what? I thought this was very different from other vampire series like Twilight. An academy... sounds interesting, at least it was at that time because I know nothing about Vampire Academy or other stuff. Zoey wasn't like other main female character either. At least she won't go all girly girl at that moment. Which is relieving, considering I've already hated Twilight.

There are really sweet characters. I think they are still sweet even now. Like Damien. He's a book worm (like us!). He's sweet and loyal, blah and blah some more. I still think he's sweet. But not so much now when it comes to Zoey. Not after I start my hunting for all kinds of YA novels.

There was time when I thought that House of Night is the best vampire series ever. Well, not so much now, but it still has a important place in my bookshelf. I won't even know what a YA novel is if I hadn't picked up that book. This is the start of my life. My book life. So even though my new favorite vampire series is The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa, I still like reading HON.

I won't give you any rating on this book cuz this flashback is about the start of all things.
